Lunchbox Love Notes…Wednesday Windings {LINK UP} 03/30/2011
Welcome to Wednesday Windings–a {LINK UP} for anything crafty or creative that you’ve been up to lately! I hope you’ll join us by linking up your project or blog post over on the left sidebar!
This week I’ve been busy working on my memory album and whipping out our end of the month cards (I never get ahead with my card making). With each extended care payment, piano lesson payment, and daycare payment, I include a handmade card for our provider or teacher. Sometimes I wonder if it’s worth all the trouble–then I stop to chat with them and see that they’ve saved them on their desk. All of them.
It’s worth it.

I was able to make both of these simple cards from only 2 pieces of paper. I love double sided paper!
And I sat down to re-stock my supply of lunchbox love notes too. I can usually get a couple cards ahead in this area because it just takes a few minutes for each and I really enjoy them. But as soon as I make them, I tend to start passing them out quicker because I just enjoy them so much.
Stickers are a life saver for these little babies, so I always peruse the clearance and sale racks for cute stuff. On the butterfly one, I actually outlined the stickers with a white gel pen because I didn’t think they had enough POP without it.
And you know how sometimes you buy supplies and it turns out that they’re not the quality you thought? Or they don’t match like you expected? Or they’re just not your style and you got swept up in the pretty display? (This is me all over!) Well, these little note cards are perfect for using that stuff!
Like that orange polka-dot ribbon. I don’t know what I was thinking. It’s been sitting on my workshop table for a year now because it’s just not something I would ever use. Maybe it came in a package with other stuff I like. (That would be a nice explanation to get me off the hook, wouldn’t it?) But the Cowboy is not a hyper-critical audience and he likes bright colors and patterns and puffy 3-D stickers, so I get some use from it anyway. (Although this one won’t go down as a favorite card for me.) They care more about the note inside anyway.
I don’t usually make notes for Speedracer because it’s awkward to try and tuck them somewhere he would be sure to find them since he doesn’t pack a lunch. But I knew his babysitter had to get some supplies from his backpack today, and we had these adorable dino stickers (and more ribbon I just can’t explain…), so voilà! The cut out was already in that sheet of cardstock, so I just folded it in half and worked with it.
I also got 2 more sets done that I’ll be sure to post soon. This is one of my favorite ministries to my family. It keeps us connected even when we’re apart and it reminds them that I’m involved in their day and I’m thinking about them and praying for them.
I hope you’ll {LINK UP} over in the left sidebar for Wednesday Windings and share what you’ve been up to lately!

Glad to have you! I love your projects!
Oh my goodness – you’re so crafty and creative! That gene was left out of my DNA. 😉 The cards and lunchbox love notes are just beautiful!
I bet that orange poka dot ribbin had something to do with Va Tech. It looks like in the picture the dot is maroon not really sure though, just a thought.
You know, that might be it. I couldn’t figure out where it came from, but that would make sense. Since I sorted it into the orange ribbon jar, I don’t know know what (if anything) I bought it with.
Such pretty notes! They sure beat the lunch box stickers I found for $1 a box at Target. But the love that goes with it the same. Although I don’t know that my oldest appreciates when I put a sticker on her bag of carrots that says…Tasty Treat!
Ha! Ha! I think the love is what makes all the difference.
I love those notecards! You are so talented.
Well thank you! I think you’re amazingly talented too–your art is food! I would love for you to think about linking up some of your cooking posts with us!
