We’re On Christmas Vacation!
Did you have a nice holiday? I hope so!! We had a nice Christmas and now I’m on vacation with the kiddos until Jan 2nd–Yeah!!
I didn’t post much through December–mostly because I was sick and didn’t feel like doing much of anything other than sitting half comatose on the couch or sleeping. But pneumonia aside, we had a pretty good holiday season this year. Mr. Fix-It and I had several chances to go shopping together this year, which gave everything a whole new perspective and lifted quite a burden for me.

Mr. Fix-It and I decided that the kiddos are old enough for us to revive some of our pre-kiddo hobbies. Everyone got backpacking gear this year for Christmas!
We decorated early this year too. (Last year we decorated the outside of the house the week of Christmas!) We skipped the annual Christmas tree hunt since I’d been sick so we had the biggest tree we’ve had in years! I had to get out a second tub of Christmas ornaments and lights!
But we did take a short excursion over to the gas line to shoot down some fresh mistletoe on Christmas Eve. I got some fun pictures to show tomorrow–oh yeah, I got a new camera for Christmas! I’m looking forward to figuring it out.
The crew has been having a blast–then being bored–then having a blast for hours. They’ve stayed up late, giggling and carrying on while “camping out” in the boys room. They’ve played My Little Pony and Laser-Shooting Dinos against Loki and the Wild Rhinos from Animal Planet. There’s been lots of Legos, and we watched a lot of The Incredible Dr. Pol Christmas marathon.

Penny spent the whole holiday smack in the middle of all the chaos in her bright and shiny new collar!
Of course, it started raining the day after Christmas, and poured–for hours! No snow for us. It’s a good thing we fit our first archery lessons and backpacking test run in on Christmas day, because nobody was going outside the day after!
And we’ve left the living room a little disassembled so that the crew still has the biggest play space possible–for a few days. And I’ve had to laugh that no matter how much mess the kiddos have strewn through the living room (the Pony-Dino-Avengers-Animal Planet game required just about every single toy in our house!) you can find Penny stretched out smack in the middle, sound asleep.
We’ve still got quite a few plans for the rest of our vacation. We’ve got visiting to do, my birthday to celebrate (ugh!), a museum to visit, farm work to finish, and a couple special art projects I’m holding in reserve if the weather doesn’t get better. Plus we’ve got movies to watch, books to read, Lego houses to build, and sword-fights to have.
How’s your last week of December shaping up?!
I’m not sure how much more I’ll be blogging over the next week–but hop over and follow Walking in High Cotton on Facebook. I’ll be posting our adventures over there more regularly!
Sounds like a lovely Christmas 🙂 I’m SO glad that you are feeling better and that you are making some amazing memories with the kids!!
So glad you are feeling better! Looks like you all have had a wonderful Christmas. Blessings!
