Planning Meals and Making Beds…Thankful Thursday #6
We’re having all the Grandparents in town to visit this weekend. The munchkins’ school hosts a “Grandparents Day” program every year and this year the Ladybug and the Cowboy are both getting baptized on Sunday as well. So we’ll have family for dinner tonight, and family for dinner on Family Movie Night tomorrow, and family for lunch on Sunday after church. And family for every other meal this weekend too!
Here’s what I’ve got so far for a menu…
Tonight: Lasagna (thank you Stouffers and coupons!)
Tomorrow: ??
Saturday: ??
Sunday: ??
I’m really on the ball, huh? {smile}
But I’m still thankful for all our company this week. It’s going to be lovely to see them all! (And I’m sure my Grandma Hohner will help me whip up something in the kitchen!)
The good news is that the playroom is painted! Yeah! It’s never actually been painted since we’ve lived here. The walls were painted with primer and the trim was white so it looked like we had a cream and white color scheme going on–but it wasn’t actually paint. Now it’s a lovely shade of gray-green-blue that I can’t figure out how to photograph well. {grin}

I’m thankful for Mr. Fix-It sticking with the painting diligently after work all week to get it done. And I’m thankful that the extra bedding set that we randomly picked up years ago just so happens to match the new colors almost perfectly! (Who knew, right?) We still have to paint the upstairs bathroom (the same color, to match) and hang stuff on the walls, but right now it looks calm and smooth and the kiddos think it’s beautiful.
I’m also thankful for the hour we spent last night after the munchkins went to bed putting all the books back on the shelves. Mr. Fix-It was kinda luke-warm about it, but as a confessed book-aholic I loved sorting, organizing, shelving and remembering as we moved stacks (and stacks!) back out to the playroom. Remembering how my Momma brought me this one home from a library sale or got me that one for Christmas, or replaced this one twice for me because I read it to pieces…I loved thinking about how much my boys are going to love reading the new Gary Paulsen books from the library sale and how the Ladybug and I are going to read Elizabeth Blackwell together since she wants to be a doctor at the moment. They hold so many memories and so many possibilities! I’m thankful that we are blessed with a whole library of good books for our munchkins to read and enjoy!

Our recent library book sale finds!
I’m also thankful for my brave husband. Not only did he jump up and grab the shotgun when he heard something going after the ducks this morning–but he rushed outside in the dark, in his bare feet, across the whole back field, to make sure it was gone. (It was a fox.) Besides the fact that it was freezing out there and covered in wet, frosty dew and fresh mowed grass–there are cow paddies and sheep pellets and duck “doo” all over back there!
I’m thankful that the hubs heard the ruckus and saved the day!
What are you thankful for this week?
Wow! My kids loved Gary Paulsen’s books. Library sale finds are the best.
What an awesome hubby you have 🙂 I so need to get moving on the paint project we have here, but at the moment I feel like I’m treading water with all the kids. One day…..
