Washing Water Buckets, Trucks, and the Dog…the Daily Farm Adventures {50}
We had a lovely, sunny weekend again. So we rescued the garden from the weeds, and put in our first crop of beans and sugar snaps. We threw some sunflower seeds down in our flagpole garden and raked up the mulch, which the chickens immediately scratched back out again!
We scrubbed water buckets (yes, pretty much every. single. weekend.) to get rid of the yellow film coating everything right now.
Mr. Fix-It washed the Hemi too, since it was more orange than red, thanks to the dreaded yellow film.
And then while the hose was out, he and the Ladybug went ahead and washed Penny too! I think she felt a little betrayed by the whole business. Probably mostly the fact that the kiddos all enjoy it so much. They laugh and joke the whole time, adding insult to injury. {smile}
We reclaimed the house for people (and Penny!) and moved the chicks to the garage. Then we trimmed the front shrubs and vines, and washed the porch.
Our spring plants are all growing and getting ready to bloom, but most of our stuff seems to be about two weeks behind everyone else in this area. Like we’re a micro-climate all to ourselves. It occurred to me that all of my spring blooming plants are purple. {smile} Pretty much everything that blooms in our gardens is purple, yellow, or white. I have one little pink azalea. Maybe I should add some more red and pink this year.
It’s suppose to rain all week around here. I’m trying not to complain. The grass has had a rough winter and could use the moisture. But more than a day or two of overcast skies can get really old. We’ve also started lining up our summer daycare schedules and learning plans and I’ll be sharing about that later this week.
How was your weekend? Were you able to be outside in the fresh spring air? I even remembered to put sunblock on and didn’t get sunburned! {smile} Yet.
