Building, Rebuilding, and Getting Dirty…the Daily Farm Adventures {109}
Thank goodness after a long round of antibiotics and other meds Mr. Fix-It and I are feeling better. Not great. Not quite back to normal. But definitely better. Because Spring is in full swing around here and there’s just no time to be laying around in bed!
The Dodge has been in pieces in the garage for weeks now and that situation had to be corrected. First we had to take it apart to figure out what was broken. Then we had to find and order the parts–from Montana of all places!–then we had to get them put in and the transmission put back in the truck. My poor husband. {smile} This is what happens when you’re a Mr. Fix-It–you have to get in there and fix it. “It” being…well…everything!
But this was a big job, so my Father-in-Law came in to help on Saturday.
We usually like to include the kiddos in everything, but rebuilding the transfer case and reinstalling the transmission and drive shaft in our primary vehicle was a job Mr. Fix-It wanted to really be able to concentrate on. So the kiddos were out and about and I was running errands most of the day.
I’m also very thankful that over the last two weeks everyone has pitched in and we’ve gotten our housecleaning back on track. Between being sick and the spring rain lately things had just gotten out of control! I’ve still got a couple hot spots to work on, but if someone pulled in the driveway right now, I wouldn’t have to run out on the porch and distract them while the rest of the family threw all our stuff in trash bags, stuffed them in a closet, and turned all the lights off so you couldn’t see the dirt. {smile} We are back to what we consider livable.
Which was all good news because the Pine Car Derby is coming up, after Easter, and we needed the garage for a workshop on Sunday.
We’re cutting and sanding, painting and polishing, and working out design issues. I know the Cowboy is using a Lamborghini as his base design, but I have no idea what the other two are doing this year. I’m not sure what the underlying design started out as, but Speedracer’s car is pretty much an arrow, and the Ladybug is going for some type of modified wedge. We’ll see when they’re done.
We went from 75 degrees last week to 45 degrees over the weekend and we’re supposed to be in the 60s all week. Typical Spring. Everything is starting to haze out in green around here, but nothing is in full-effect yet. And we are still waaaaay behind on our garden, but giving ourselves lots of grace. {smile} How are things around your home place?
