Spring Break, Stitches, and Sunshine…the Daily Farm Adventures {110}
We kicked off Spring Break with a trip to the ER.
Speedracer had a playground accident at school and needed six stitches.
I was pretty traumatized by the whole thing.
He was fine.
{smile}
Mr. Fix-It ended up picking him up from school and taking him to the doctor because I was in training for work when the call came through. I think everyone probably preferred it that way (except me) because my husband tends to be cool as a cucumber about these things while I tend to spend the whole time talking myself out of a panic attack. But the report I got was that my “baby” hardly cried and afterwards they went to get Daddy a haircut and Speedracer got to drink “a whole Mountain Dew” of his own (our crew doesn’t do any caffeine yet!) and he was fine as long as I looked at it, but didn’t touch it.
He did get out of his chores for a few days, just from sympathy, but we had company come to visit for the Break, so there was no slowing down. {smile} Spring is coming on strong now–minus a few snow flurries this past Saturday. We’ve got our garden fence up (pictures Friday!) and potatoes and cabbage ready to go in. My Mother’s Day lilac from last year is blooming, the lambs are growing, and my hay-fever is kicking up something fierce–but we can’t let that stop us! {smile}
How are things at your home place? Blooming? Still waiting? Snowing?!
If you follow us on Facebook or Instagram, you’ve probably also seen that we’re all things Nerf-crazy around here lately. The nice weather has infected my boys and they spend all their time toting their new modulus’ around, hiding like snipers, and “foaming” the chickens. I got pretty mad when they came in talking about “shooting” our animals, so they’ve taking to calling it “foaming” them instead–since they’re foam darts. The Ladybug even gets in on the action with her Nerf Rebel—because girls shoot too! The Cowboy took his piggy bank down to the Army Surplus store and bought himself a tactical vest (similar to this one) that he wears constantly now, stalking around the farm. It’s adorable–oops, I mean, it’s so tough and rugged and manly. {smile} And occasionally they really do almost blend in!
Hope sunshine is heading your way this week and you’ll get to be out and about in the fresh air!
