About Jamie
Hi, I’m Jamie–the busy wife and momma to my Mr. Fix-It and our three kiddos. I work full-time outside the home and help manage our small livestock farm when we are home. Walking in High Cotton is all about grabbing every minute, counting every blessing, praising every day–even when it’s hard.
I want to encourage you to be intentional about your family’s time. To choose what’s best and not just what’s good–and definitely not always just what’s EASY. To do hard things. And to do them WITH your children!
Farming has given us the most amazing opportunity to let our kids spend each day vibrantly active and meaningfully involved in the day-to-day work of homesteading, and I love sharing how they rise to each challenge!
Mr. Fix-It and I got married right after college in 2001, and we dove into building our first fences at The Lowe Farm in 2004. We also fell head-first into parenting with the arrival of our Ladybug that August.
In 2006, while pregnant with our second child, the Cowboy, I lost both of my parents in a motorcycle accident. I was 27–they were 47. It was an ugly time, and it changed a lot of things for us. It’s something we still live with every day. But like gold refined by fire, like wheat sifted from the chaff, God’s grace is redeeming this part of our journey as well.
Our #3, the Speedracer, joined us in 2008 and we spent some hectic years with 3 under 5. And it turns out as they grew up, it didn’t get any less crazy-busy! And we wouldn’t trade a minute of it. (Well…maybe a few of the muddier ones…)
From sheep spit and catfights to motherless motherhood and unanswered prayers…you’ll find us here, redeeming the everyday grind…with boots on!
