Sheep IVs and Kitchen Paint…the Daily Farm Adventures

Walking in High Cotton Posted on January 13, 2014 by JamieSeptember 8, 2019 1

Waaaay back over the summer when we painted the boy’s room (oops, completion pictures still pending!) and the playroom, we also went ahead and picked out a new color for the kitchen/dining room and bought paint (we had a great coupon!). And it sat upstairs for a while. Mr. Fix-It decided that we (and I use that “we” loosely, as I always do when it comes to painting anything around here!) were going to tackle that project this past weekend, before we have company this coming weekend. I didn’t realize … Continue Reading…

Vintage Boys Room…Sneak Peek

Walking in High Cotton Posted on August 1, 2013 by JamieAugust 1, 2013 1

We’ve been making steady process on redecorating the boys’ room for two weeks now–something I’ve wanted to tackle for about 2 years now! {smile} As we wrap up I should have final pictures next week, but I’ve got a few early pictures here that I just can’t wait to share. The Cowboy and Speedracer really love it too. I’m glad I decided to use draper rings though–because they just can’t help but open and shut the curtains about a thousand times a day. If you’ve ever been in our house … Continue Reading…

A Place for Everything

Walking in High Cotton Posted on February 20, 2012 by JamieFebruary 20, 2012 1

There a lot of things that don’t have a “place” in our house–mostly because we have too many “things.” It’s one reason why we’re tackling this big upstairs sort toss project. But there’s one room in our house that works hard at having a place for everything and everything in it’s place. Our mudroom. Especially our two-tier, wall hung coat rack. It was a DIY project that Mr. Fix-It and I did a few years ago and our life just wouldn’t be the same without it. Having it there is part … Continue Reading…

Using Chalkboard Paint

Walking in High Cotton Posted on February 17, 2012 by JamieFebruary 17, 2012 8

Ok, so I’ve been promising a post about our cool chalkboard project for a couple days now. First I had to show you that we were actually making progress on the Playroom, so that there’s actually room for a chalkboard…then I had to interrupt everything to let you know that lambing season is underway here at The Lowe Farm and every time we turn around fuzzy new faces are showing up!\ But on to the chalkboard! When we all agreed to give our play kitchen to the church preschool program, … Continue Reading…

The Work Continues…Making Bunk Beds Work

Walking in High Cotton Posted on January 25, 2012 by JamieJuly 17, 2013 3

I talked before about hitting our upstairs projects hard while I was home for 4 days a few weeks ago. We’ve kept at it, although things have slowed down a little bit since I’m back at work. Since our upstairs is basically the kids rooms with the Playroom in between, we’ve been working back and forth through them all instead of working one room at a time. This has really helped with my “shop our house first” budget and we’re still making good progress! We stacked the boys bunk beds … Continue Reading…

Mr. Fix-It to the Rescue

Walking in High Cotton Posted on June 13, 2011 by JamieJune 13, 2011 3

Our air conditioning hasn’t been working. It didn’t seem like that big a deal a few weeks ago when it was around 80. Really, with our porches to shade the windows and our ceiling fans running, we were just gonna tough it out for a while and save some money on the electric bill.  I mean, it was only May and we can handle 75-80 degrees with a breeze and with it cooling down to 60s in the evenings. We’re tough. Ha. Then it hit 91. Ha. Ha. Ha. And … Continue Reading…
