Easy DIY Luggage Tags

Easy DIY Luggage Tags from chipboard and scrapbook paper via Walking in High Cotton

As I wrote last week with our Summer Camp Packing lists (did you download your FREE copy?) our kiddos have been adventuring away from home a lot this summer. They visited my sister, my mother-in-law, and now church camp. This is Speedracer’s first year at church camp and we’ve developed several little rites of passage for the first year. One is that they get their first toiletry bag (or shaving kit bag for the boys) and one is that they get their personalized luggage tags. This is an easy and … Continue Reading…

Sending Love Projects

Walking in High Cotton Posted on February 4, 2014 by JamieSeptember 8, 2019 4

I used some of our recent snow day time to get help from the kiddos working on some “sending love” projects I’ve had on my To-Do list lately. We all made Get Well Soon cards for Mr. Fix-It’s grandma (we call her “Bea”) and printed off some pictures to send with them–because who wouldn’t feel cheered up seeing pictures of my adorable kiddos? {smile} I made a birthday card for my Grandma Koeller and sent it off. Grandma Koeller has come to visit us several times the last couple years … Continue Reading…

Quick 1 Minute Mini Envelope Tutorial

Walking in High Cotton Posted on July 30, 2013 by JamieMarch 30, 2020
1 Minute Mini Envelope Tutorial for lunchbox notes, camp notes, or any other sending love moment! via Walking in High Cotton

I love sending my kiddos lunchbox love notes all through the school year so that we can all stay connected while we’re apart for the day. So you know I had to come up with something for the Ladybug while she was away at camp for a whole week! I sat down to make up little notes to stick in her bag and remembered something genius I saw on Pinterest at some point. Mini envelopes made of hearts. Yep, jackpot! Quick, easy, versatile. I made up about 10 of them, including personal … Continue Reading…

Happy Valentine’s Day to “Ewe!”

Walking in High Cotton Posted on February 14, 2013 by JamieSeptember 8, 2019 4
Happy Valentines Day to "ewe" {via Walking in High Cotton}

As usual, I didn’t get a Valentine’s Day post up until the day itself–which is probably a little ahead for me since I’m usually posting after the fact! The Ladybug and I whipped up a few Valentine’s Day tags for the crew’s teachers yesterday while she was home sick with an earache. (Which is hopefully on the mend!) I had come across a couple different versions of using “ewe” on cards over on Pinterest and am a big fan of using sheep since they are so easy to draw. I’m … Continue Reading…

Smashbook Journaling

Walking in High Cotton Posted on February 13, 2013 by JamieSeptember 8, 2019 2
Smashbook Journaling at Walking in High Cotton

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I had tried out some Smashbook supplies for scrapbook journaling and was really enjoying them. Actually, I’m kinda crazy about it. Since New Years I’ve already almost filled one journal. I think it’s a case were I’m not completely sure if it’s the medium or just that I was in the right mindset. But I’ve been able to really throw off my normal expectations about scrapbook page design and that dreaded need for chronology and just do it. It’s been a very personal … Continue Reading…

Lunchbox Love Notes

Walking in High Cotton Posted on February 29, 2012 by JamieSeptember 8, 2019 2

It’s been a while since I posted anything from my crafting workshop. (It’s been a while since I had time to do anything in my workshop!) But I’ve been having some trouble with the big “A” around here (that would ATTITUDE) and I thought that it was time to break out the lunchbox love notes again. I’m all about consequences, but I think they need to be served with a large helping of love and positive reinforcement as well. Plus, this is a good reintroduction to my workshop since I’ve … Continue Reading…

Wallets for My Boys

Walking in High Cotton Posted on January 11, 2012 by JamieSeptember 8, 2019 9

I got my workshop all neatened up while I was off at Christmas, even though I was too busy with the kiddos to do much crafting. But part of my New Years planning is that I’ve written out a rather daunting list of all the crafting, sewing, and creating that I want to get done this year. The good news is that I have a whole year. The bad news is that I have a big list. But I got started the other day with something that I’ve been promising … Continue Reading…

Getting Our Craft On

Walking in High Cotton Posted on November 30, 2011 by JamieSeptember 8, 2019 2

Since we were together for 4 days, I suppose it’s only natural that my sister and I would break out our scissors and glue and get our craft on. Saturday night after eating and shopping and sleeping and shopping and cleaning and drinking lots of coffee…we spent a few hours ripping and tearing and gluing and glittering and waxing philosophical about all the things of faith and God that we’ve been learning over the last year or two. I didn’t really expect to stay up until 4:30 am–especially with only … Continue Reading…

Craft Kids

Walking in High Cotton Posted on November 9, 2011 by JamieSeptember 8, 2019 6

This weekend was pretty busy, but Sunday I let the kids go ahead and do some crafting at the dining room table while I was cleaning and running back and forth with customers at the farm. The kiddos got some stickers and spending money from Mimi and Papa (Mr. Fix-It’s momma and step-father) in a surprise package a few days ago. Some of their money goes straight into the bank or their 527s, but some of it they get to keep in their salsa-turned-money jars as spending money. I love … Continue Reading…

Winter Babies…Blessed Life Design Review

Walking in High Cotton Posted on October 12, 2011 by JamieSeptember 8, 2019 2

Both of my little boys were winter babies, one in December and one in January. So I spend the whole winter trying to convince Mr. Fix-It that their baby hats were necessary even if they were sort of…baby-ish. We had them stashed everywhere and wore a couple almost out. My favorite was a hand-knit, light yellow one we got from the hospital with Speedracer. I still have it stashed away for his baby book someday. I’m always on the hunt for cute baby hats for winter baby gifts–useful and cute … Continue Reading…

Crafting and Football

Walking in High Cotton Posted on October 4, 2011 by JamieSeptember 8, 2019 3

So I’ve been crafting in between everything in our lives these day getting ready for our first craft show in a few weeks. You know, one more thing to throw on the pile of Fall busyness–it adds a little excitement to our days. (‘Cuz we need so much more around here, right?!) I was even working on the commercials during the football game. You know, the one where our Packers wiped the field with the Denver Broncos? Yeah, well, here’s some tips if you’re going to craft while watching football… … Continue Reading…

Gift Tags

Walking in High Cotton Posted on September 28, 2011 by JamieSeptember 8, 2019 5

This weekend I sat down to finish up some covered journals and decided that the scraps would make some lovely gift tags. I got a little carried away and ended up just going and going even when I ran out of scraps and starting in on brand new paper. I liked the way the scraps came together so well, I’ve got a couple more journals in progress using the same combinations!  The blue ones are my favorites right now. I’ve also been using glitter a lot. I like the way … Continue Reading…

Notecard Sets…Wednesday Windings 09/21/2011

Walking in High Cotton Posted on September 21, 2011 by JamieSeptember 8, 2019 2

I’ve been pretty busy lately getting ready for my first craft show in October.  (So excited!!) Unfortunately, the Fresh blog was also infected with the malware problem I had recently over here at High Cotton and it’s a mess right now and taking a lot of my time to sort out. (But the Storefront is still up and as full of fresh, funky, fun as ever!) But I’ve been splitting time between sewing and papercrafting. Notice all the Wisteria purple?! I’m still crazy about that new color and about the … Continue Reading…

Cardmaking…Wednesday Windings 09/14/2011

Walking in High Cotton Posted on September 14, 2011 by JamieSeptember 8, 2019 1

With the start of the school year, I’m back to being elbow deep in my papercrafting supplies again. I’ve got cards for teachers, notes for lunchboxes, and the holidays coming up fast too! I wish I could say that I’m creating a stockpile, but really everything I’ve gotten done this week is already spoken for! {sigh}  That’s just the way it goes. At least it means there’s a purpose to my hobby! I’m enjoying the new Stampin’ Up! colors (ok, ok, mostly that lavender Wisteria!) and I love their vintage … Continue Reading…
