Pasture Walking…the Daily Farm Adventures {113}

Walking in High Cotton Posted on August 29, 2016 by Jamie OliverMarch 30, 2020

Walking the dogs several times a day means I get to see the subtle changes that happen in the pasture as the seasons turn.While walking the dogs is part of the crew’s chore routine, I also walk them every day. Usually early in the morning (when I need to be alone to wake up nicely) and the evening right after work (to relax into our home life after the busy day). Coal also insists that I take him for a walk every evening after dinner. By insists, I mean that … Continue Reading…

Sharing Photos Without a Blog

Walking in High Cotton Posted on January 18, 2011 by Jamie OliverMarch 31, 2017

Tomorrow I’ll be hosting a link-up for craft projects here on Walkin’ in High Cotton. That means you can link up your project to share with everyone. If you don’t have a blog to link to–don’t worry! You can still share your project. You’ll need to have an account with a web-based photo sharing site like Flickr (which I use) or Picasa (which is Google’s version). Both sites offer completely, no-strings-attached, free accounts and it only takes a few minutes to set up. The free accounts have limits to the … Continue Reading…

When You See the Perfect Spot…

Walking in High Cotton Posted on November 27, 2015 by Jamie OliverMarch 9, 2017

I’m no professional photographer, but I have to admit that I pretty much never buy the kiddos school pictures anymore. … Continue Reading…

Just 54 Photos

Walking in High Cotton Posted on July 10, 2014 by Jamie OliverJuly 10, 2014

I have taken 54 pictures of our summer so far. 54 photos since May 20th. This from a person who’s Flickr acct includes 46,654 images, since May 2010. Part of me finds this appalling! I LOVE taking pictures. I love paging through pictures of my crew and seeing their little faces–happy or not–and their moments…all the activities we’ve done together…all the growth and change around us as we’ve moved forward with this farming, homesteading life…those 46,654 pictures bring me so much joy! But I’ve been tired. Tired in the deep, … Continue Reading…

The Problem with Pictures…

Walking in High Cotton Posted on May 4, 2010 by Jamie OliverMay 6, 2010 1

Is that someone has to take them.  That seems simple enough.  You just point and push the button, right?  These days they even have all the automatic settings for you and you can double check immediately to see if you need another one.   Ok, so maybe the problem isn’t the camera, but the fact that I don’t have ten arms.  It seems like the more I try to capture our life with pictures the more I find my hands are too full to worry about taking pictures.   Take this weekend, … Continue Reading…
