Quick 1 Minute Mini Envelope Tutorial

Walking in High Cotton Posted on July 30, 2013 by JamieMarch 30, 2020
1 Minute Mini Envelope Tutorial for lunchbox notes, camp notes, or any other sending love moment! via Walking in High Cotton

I love sending my kiddos lunchbox love notes all through the school year so that we can all stay connected while we’re apart for the day. So you know I had to come up with something for the Ladybug while she was away at camp for a whole week! I sat down to make up little notes to stick in her bag and remembered something genius I saw on Pinterest at some point. Mini envelopes made of hearts. Yep, jackpot! Quick, easy, versatile. I made up about 10 of them, including personal … Continue Reading…

Thoughts of the End of Summer…the Daily Farm Adventures {62}

Walking in High Cotton Posted on August 15, 2014 by JamieMarch 30, 2020

I came across this quote on Pinterest the other day and just loved it… I’m still struggling a little with keeping my camera in hand this year. But I find that my eye is still…trained?…prepped?…to see things that I would have missed before. I find that this farm life has shown me to appreciate things I wouldn’t have thought to like before. To see with new eyes. To be inspired by things I would have completely passed by. Like buzzards… I always associated them with death before, and that is … Continue Reading…

Wednesday Windings…

Walking in High Cotton Posted on May 5, 2010 by JamieSeptember 8, 2019 1

Lunchbox Love I love my kids.  I adore my kids.  And I suffer from a lot of mommy guilt being a working mom.  Loads of it.  Tons of it.  They don’t even have words for the measures I’m talking about.  We’ll talk working mom philosophys some other time–right now let’s talk cards.  That’s right, card-making.  One of the first reasons I got into stamping was because I love being creative, but I’m not at all artistic.  I think there really is a difference.  I wish I was.  I try to be.  … Continue Reading…

Sending Love Projects

Walking in High Cotton Posted on February 4, 2014 by JamieSeptember 8, 2019 4

I used some of our recent snow day time to get help from the kiddos working on some “sending love” projects I’ve had on my To-Do list lately. We all made Get Well Soon cards for Mr. Fix-It’s grandma (we call her “Bea”) and printed off some pictures to send with them–because who wouldn’t feel cheered up seeing pictures of my adorable kiddos? {smile} I made a birthday card for my Grandma Koeller and sent it off. Grandma Koeller has come to visit us several times the last couple years … Continue Reading…

Lunchbox Love Notes

Walking in High Cotton Posted on February 29, 2012 by JamieSeptember 8, 2019 2

It’s been a while since I posted anything from my crafting workshop. (It’s been a while since I had time to do anything in my workshop!) But I’ve been having some trouble with the big “A” around here (that would ATTITUDE) and I thought that it was time to break out the lunchbox love notes again. I’m all about consequences, but I think they need to be served with a large helping of love and positive reinforcement as well. Plus, this is a good reintroduction to my workshop since I’ve … Continue Reading…

Walking in High Cotton Posted on August 25, 2010 by JamieSeptember 8, 2019 2

So often I run out of time for handcrafting anything.  My family is my 1st, #1, top-of-the-list priority, my job and the farm are my 2nd priority (priorities?), and managing my household is my 3rd priority.  And if I manage to run into a day with 36 hours instead of 24, my hobbies (crafting, reading, writing) are my 4th priority.  So, while my mother-heart hates Back-to-School time, I do love it when my hobby happens to magically align with my #1 priority and I have something crafty to post! A … Continue Reading…

A Simple Garden Gift Box Tutorial…Sending Love from the Garden

Walking in High Cotton Posted on June 29, 2017 by JamieJune 29, 2017 6
A Simple Garden Gift Box Tutorial...Sending Love from the Garden via Walking in High Cotton. Frugal, Quick, Easy, Generous.

It’s the season-of-many-cucumbers around here. And while we’ve already made cucumber sandwiches, cucumber cream cheese wraps, cucumber salsa, and now creamed cucumbers, there are still so. many. cucumbers. Also suddenly an abundance of green peppers, blackberries and raspberries, tomatoes, and parsley. (Why did we plant so much parsley?!?) Much like our sudden spring abundance of eggs, we like to use what we can, and then share the garden goodies. So we’ve been sending out boxes of fresh, backyard goodness to co-workers, family, and customers. Here’s a quick, easy, and frugal way to … Continue Reading…

Real Life Homeschooling…Learning by Adopting a Soldier

Walking in High Cotton Posted on February 11, 2014 by JamieJanuary 11, 2016 6
Learning by Adopting A Soldier {via Walking in High Cotton}

Real Life Homeschooling is about busy momma’s sharing ideas for how you can be intentional about teaching at home, even if it doesn’t look like traditional school-at-home. Last month I talked about how down time can play a key role in developing a supportive learning environment in your home. This month I’d like to talk about another activity our family participates in that has opened wide doors of learning for us…Adopting A Soldier. I mentioned our recent “adoption” the other day while taking about care packages. This is the third time … Continue Reading…

Lunchbox Love Notes…Wednesday Windings 08/31/2011

Walking in High Cotton Posted on August 31, 2011 by JamieAugust 30, 2011 6

We’re back in school again. Which means extra laundry, extra chores, early bedtimes, and packing lunches. Which means more lunchbox notes! This year I’ve got  to make even more of them, since Speedracer’s off in school now too.  I had stockpiled enough for one each day of the first week ready when they started last Monday. Yes, that’s 15 of them! It was about 2 hours of bustle in my workshop to get them done. They go really fast once you get started. It’s a great way to try out different … Continue Reading…

Lunchbox Love Notes…Wednesday Windings 04/13/2011

Walking in High Cotton Posted on April 13, 2011 by JamieApril 13, 2011 4

Welcome to Wednesday Windings — I hope you’re link up over on the left sidebar an share whatever creative projects you’ve been up to lately! This week we’ve been pretty busy, but I have some more cute lunchbox notes to share with you. I have to admit, I tend to like the girly ones the best. But I enjoy making them for the boys too. They’re just…boyish. I’m pretty happy with how they all turned out though. They’re also perfect for trying out new techniques or products too, because the … Continue Reading…

Walking in High Cotton Posted on July 7, 2010 by JamieJuly 7, 2010 2

Can you believe it’s July already?  We have visiting family leaving town today, more coming in on the 16th, we’re going out of town on the 26th, and then it’s time to get the kids ready for school already!  Whew! I’m excited to say that I’ve already taken more pictures this summer than for the past 12 months.  However…it’s created more work too!  Now I have hundreds of digital photos to organized, edit, and store.  And I like to think that eventually I’ll get them scrapbooked, albumed (is that a … Continue Reading…
