Last week I detailed my VBS adventures with bats, snakes and penguins, and the grand finale on Friday was fish. Yep, fish. Friday at lunch my totally not-artistic self hand-drew a pattern for goldfish and whipped them together. I’ve discovered that there’s a simplicity of scale involved in sewing. Smaller is not always better because it makes it hard to turn inside out, stuff, or edge. Sock Snakes and Paper Penguins

My adventures with being SuperMomma this week are almost over! (Ha!) I’ve done fleece bats, sock snakes, paper penguins, and I’ve got to come up with 3 fish by 5 pm this evening, before I put my cape away for a while. Batty For You…Sewing Stuffed Bats Wednesday Windings 06/22/2011

So yesterday I mentioned that the kids were supposed to try and find a bat (as in winged, cavern-dwelling mammal) to try and bring to VBS Tuesday night as part of their Treasure Quest program. It had to be stuffed, plastic, or an otherwise actual object–no pictures (and minus credits for bring a real bat!)–for points toward end of the program prizes.
