We’ve had a busy week enjoying great time together as a family and visiting with out-of-town relatives (who we put to work, of course!) at the farm. This is the first year that the kids were really old enough to start enjoying fireworks, so we decided to take the family to one of our (many) local military bases for a free concert and fireworks.

They really enjoyed it. There were lots of other people to watch, the weather was actually very pleasant with a nice breeze the whole evening, and the fireworks were awesome. They even had an inflatable “playland” area set up for the kids to bounce, crawl, and climb through with a misting area and a water slide. Oh, and did I mention that it was all free?

Except for the french fries, they were $47.99.

Just kidding. But they were outrageously overpriced–just like any other concert venue.

But this picture would have been worth $50 in french fries anyway…

And we had a great chance to personally thank the soldiers directing traffic coming in and out. Happy Independence Day, America!
