When Worlds Collide…Thankful on a Thursday 03/10/2011
This week I’m a little scattered. I’ve got a lot going on around here. A lot of things are wrapping up. A lot of newness is unfolding. My sphere’s of influence (mother-wife-farmer-professional-friend) are all whirling a mile a minute. What better time to take a moment for Thankful on a Thursday? I am thankful that all the different worlds I inhabit become one under God. So here’s my Psalm of praise for the week.
“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.” (Psalms 42:5)
I am thankful for health and healing. Our pregnancy toxemia ewe delivered a bouncing 10 lb baby girl on Wednesday. Completely unassisted. We’ve still got them under close observation because we’re not completely out of the woods yet. But so far it’s all good news!
“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.” (Malachi 4:2)
I’m thankful for each and every sign of Spring! One of my favorite easy-reading Christian fiction authors is Jeanette Oke and some of my favorite book titles by her are Winter is Not Forever and When Spring Breaks New. February’s become quite a difficult month for us. We lost our dogs in Feb 2010 and now Feb 2011, we had sick sheep, sick kids, bad weather…but the Lord makes all things new again. I am so thankful for the steady march of seasons, the reminder that time moves on, ever forward, toward God’s good purpose. Each early morning sunrise and birdsong is a reminder that God has things well in hand.
“Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly: thou settlest the furrows thereof: thou makest it soft with showers: thou blessest the springing thereof. Thou crownest the year with thy goodness…” (Psalms 65:10-11)
I’m thankful for our recent blessings at home. We’ve been successful in selling off some livestock and equipment that’s been on our to-do list for a while. We’ve made some more local farm contacts that will be a blessing to us moving forward as well. (We found a local wool mill!!) We are so thankful that God has clearly heard our prayers and met our needs in these areas.
“But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.” (Psalms 66:19)
And I’m thankful for family. The kids got to visit with Grandpa Ray and Grandma Judy last weekend for Family Movie night and this weekend Mr. Fix-It’s sister is coming to visit and go with us to the PBR Hampton Invitational (bull riding)–which is something totally new to me and the kids and the Cowboy is going to LOVE IT!
“I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.” (Psalms 34:1-3)
So what’re you thankful for this week? You can {LINK UP} over on the left sidebar if you have a blog, or just leave a comment to share with us if you’d like. We’d love to share your blessings!
I’m so glad that the ewe survived and had her cute baby! It sounds like God has answered your prayers regarding the farm and finding the wool mill. It just takes believing that things will work out. And Family is always our biggest blessing!
I am thankful for family and friends and that things are going not to bad on the farm right now. I am thankful for blogging friends they listen and advise on things I need to know.
I am thankful to able to meet and hear from people all over the world.
I am just thank ful for my good life. B
