Well, I don’t have a crafty post today. I’m lucky to have any post.
We had a completely unexpected but very severe storm yesterday about 4 pm and we’ve had a mess ever since.
No power.
Which means no water, since our well pump is electric. We had a bit of water since everything that’s already pulled is still in the pipes, but we have to conserve. So no baths last night.
No A/C.
Which wouldn’t be a problem, really, except that we didn’t have power for any fans either. The kids slept in their underwear. And they were still hot.
And we had a huge patch of shingles blow off. Mr. Fix-It was up on our roof last night and he’ll be back up there today and hopefully he can fix-it. Otherwise we’ve got to call someone because we’re expecting more storms tomorrow.
But we’re counting our blessings.
All the animals seemed to make it through fine and everyone was accounted for this morning. We once had wind pick up a portable shelter and drop it back down on one of our best ewes. That was not a good morning.
It wasn’t enough to cause any flooding. Enough said there.
The dead walnut tree in our driveway managed to survive yet again. We’ve been worrying over taking that thing down for a couple years now, but it’s the only full grown tree we have right now and it’s got the kids swing in it.
And our power was back on in the middle of the night so I could still take a shower this morning. It was cold, after rushing everyone through a bath before school, but it was a shower.
That’s a good enough morning.
