Fall is in high gear around here.
The sheep are moving into breeding season and doing all kinds of crazy, unpredictable things like getting stuck upside down on the compost pile and accidentally locking themselves in the chicken house while trying to steal chicken food. We’ve been checking on them more than normal lately to try and keep up with their shennanigans.
Football and Volleyball season are also rolling along for our two oldest and this week we also had the local county fair going on. The Ladybug is in an Agriculture class the local high schools have started offering, and was at the Fair helping showcase the program several times this weekend. I can not fathom what walking rabbits on leashes has to do with agriculture, but I’m staying out of it. She’s enjoying the class and we’ll just leave it at that.
Since we were there dropping off and picking up, we took the boys for some SnoCones and Midway and Cycle Circus fun. Mr. Fix-It was on Midway duty and had to ride the rides. Blah. Not my thing. But we paid him with a fried Snickers and lots of lemonade.
My middle son is not a fan of this picture. But seriously, those blue eyes, for real…
And apparently I’ve started taking a lot of pictures again because I’ve started getting the siiiiggghhhh and fake smile again when I ask them to pose together. It was so much easier when they were little!
And I just had to smile at the Redhead this week. She’s been bummed that I’ve had to work from home some evenings and “her kids” have been at practice and games so she didn’t get as much special attention. She grabbed a clean pair of socks off the coffee table (right in front of me!) and took them to her bed with a big, fat, dramatic sigh. Shameless! Cattle dogs are a headache and a riot all at the same time!
This week we’ll be putting a new cover on the chicken house and working sheep for the last time before winter. We’ve also got to get a new roof and paint on the red barn before the weather turns bad for good. Last winter was very mild, and I don’t expect to get that lucky twice!
