Cousins

July is a busy month for us.  We had cousins from PA visiting for a week around the 4th and have more cousins, aunts, uncles, and a very special great-great grandma coming to visit next week from…well…all over…for a family reunion.  Our kids are loving it.

sprinkler boys picnik
The fearless Cowboy on the left with his trusty steed in hand, and the not so fearless Speedracer on the right. July 2010.

They’ve had water balloon fights and sprinkler runs, and lots of bathing suit time.

sprinkler scotty picnik
Nothing like someone a few years older to show them the ropes. July 2010.

And someone to play horsey with.

4th horsey picnik
The Cowboy on the right takes his "horsey" seriously. July 2010.

Well, at least someone to tolerate them playing horsey.

And we’ve had helping hands to pull weeds and cut and water flowers.

butterfly bush butterfly picnik
The butterfly bushes live up to their name around here. July 2010.

Mr. Fix-It got our house washed.  (If anyone that tells you vinyl siding is maintenance free don’t believe it for a second.)  And there’s been painting.  Lots of painting.

painting porch furniture picnik
A little white paint and it's like a whole new porch set! July 2010.

And in case you were wondering why anyone would bother coming to visit us if all we do is make them entertain our kids and clean our yard, there was also  horseback riding, egg-gathering, antique shopping, farmers-marketing, concert-going, movie-watching, snack-eating, mall-walking, and a home-grown firework shows every night in the front yard before bed.

movie watching 2 picnik
Piling on the couch for a movie every evening quickly became a tradition. July 2010.

I’m excited that some of our visitors might even be writing guest posts for Walkin’ in High Cotton in the next week or so while I’m doing more shopping, eating, riding, visiting, shopping, and movie-watching with our next passel of family.

Because we love it when we have “our people” coming to visit, as the Ladybug likes to say.
