We’ve been rolling this week on Halloween/Harvest treats. This year I’ve tried to keep it particularly simple so that the Ladybug could help out a lot.

We made quick candy treat bags for Mr. Fix-It’s work. Guys don’t much care about things like colorful bag filler, so we didn’t bother with that. Besides, you can fit more candy without it, and the guys do seem to care about the candy.

We also put together a couple with sugar-free candy for some diabetic friends. Individual treat bags are an easy way to address things like health issues or diets.

Then we made cute pencil treats for the kiddos at school, since I’m sure some other parent will send candy treat bags.

And because I was using up treat bags left over from a bridal shower and I didn’t have enough.

They turned out cute and used up a lot of scrap ribbon and stickers I had around. We don’t celebrate Halloween at our church (also our Christian school) so we tried to keep it as friendly as possible. No witches, no skulls, etc. We tried to stick with pumpkins and stuff. A few bats. No bubbling cauldrons or anything.

The 12 x 12, double-sided paper was perfect. I just cut it into 12 x 3 inch strips and glued the edges. We put a couple colored staples in the edges as well to hold it. Then we punched holds in each side, ran a couple ribbons through and stuck a sticker on there. Mr. Fix-It even helped me with these.

I’m not a perfectionist about a lot of this stuff because I like to have the kids help me. It can make for an interesting final product, but I’d rather give something that’s filled with love and laughter than something that’s beautiful but only full of empty calories.
