There’s More to Life Than Lambing
You know, at this time of year, it’s hard for me to remember that. Other than when I’m sitting at my office immersed in something so frustrating it takes all of my mental energy to stay focused (and sometimes even then), my mind is on sheep. But there really is more going on around here. As usual.
Someone let the chickens out again the other day. By accident. Of course. So we had to have a roundup on Thursday evening.
And I’ve been encouraging the Ladybug’s new interest in photography, too, since my hands have been full of sheep supplies lately. We got a great picture of the back of her brother’s head and one of the bottom of the front end loader full of cow manure on Saturday.
She told me she took this one of the dashboard so she can scrapbook it. She wants to remember the Ranger when she’s older and moves to her own house.
Speedracer’s been hanging out watching everyone work, as usual.
When he’s not sleeping, of course.
Ladybug and I have taken about 100 pictures (maybe more!) of this little guy too. He’s just so…adorable!
And the Cowboy’s been playing cowboys and indians, or soldiers, or whatever other shooting-related games that boys play with anything vaguely linear in shape. When he’s not lecturing me on how to check the safety first or reminding me that we never shoot up at the sky because that’s where God lives and He wouldn’t like that, that is.
Oh yeah, and it is lambing season. So we had another lamb yesterday afternoon. A little ram lamb this time. 3 girls and 1 boy so far.
It’s a “Y” year for the registry this time, so if you have any ideas of Y names for boys, please let me know. I’m stumped and even with only naming the rams, I still think we’ll probably need several. I’ve still got 15 ewes to go.
I went to high school with a guy named Yancey. Does that help? I still have my baby names book if you want to look for “Y” names.
There is always Yann (which is super popular here). I think it’s so sweet that your ladybug has such an interest in photography and scrapbooking and even more that you are encouraging her to pursue it! As always, I love your pictures!!
Great photos – and I love the stories behind each one!
