Boy, I’m running behind this week! It’s partly because we’ve been busy and partly because I apparently have a twitchy finger that thinks it double-clicked when it actually didn’t. All week so far I’ve thought I posted before leaving for work and turns out I didn’t. Ugh!
Our Cowboy’s been sick and had several doctor’s appointment this week because of an upset stomach. We’re thankful that it looks like nothing serious (or at least, we’ve ruled out a bunch of “serious” stuff). I have to admit to a little frustration that it took so many sleepless nights, so many appointments, and so much worry just to find out he’s got indigestion, but we’re just trying to count our blessings and move on.
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all they diseases; Who redeemeth they life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; who satisfieth they mouth with good things; so that they youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” (Psalms 103:2-4)
And boy, I’m thankful for coffee this week! The Cowboy hasn’t slept through the night (ok, he really hasn’t slept for more than a solid hour) since Friday. And suddenly last night Speedracer couldn’t sleep either. He was wide awake by the edge of our bed wanting to chit-chat at 3 am this morning. I’m thankful they’re healthy, and I’m very thankful that this is completely out of the ordinary for us! And I’ll be quite thankful when we can get a full night’s sleep again too. Like Mr. Fix-It said this morning, “How did we survive this every night when they were babies?”
“And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance forever. And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.” (Isaiah 32:17-18.)
And I’m thankful that we’ve been able to move our animals out on pasture this week. Our grass is certainly not the vision of riotous, verdant green we would like, but there’s grass out there. And there’s animals out there eating it. And it’s taken a lot of work to make it happen. I’m thankful that God has blessed all our sweat, blood, and tears to get us here.
And I’m thankful for my A+, #1 Helpers with a capital “H.” The Cowboy and the Ladybug are becoming quite the expert fence runners!
“And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without and that ye may have lack of nothing.” (1Thessalonians 4:11-12).
I’m thankful for longer days and early sunrises, for dirt under my fingernails and summer haircuts, for peach blossoms and tumbling kittens and the buzz of dragonflies in the spring grass…
