Craziness
Our life has just totally slipped it’s leash lately and run wild here at The Lowe Farm. We’re all doing just fine, but I can tell from Speedracer’s grumpiness and the Ladybug’s messy handwriting that it’s wearing on us. The good news is that “this too shall pass” as my momma must have told me 1,000 times.
I haven’t even managed to get my house fully under control yet. (I have “big” plans for Veteran’s Day!) At least we’re all feed and clothed. Well mostly.
Is it terrible if I admit that they slept in their clothes last night? We had to go pick up some lambs at another farm, an hour away, last night, after work. It was the only way that worked for us and the other farmer to have them here by Sunday for our customers. So we headed home after work, changed into clean “farm clothes”, packed some brown bag dinners, and headed back out.
They just hung out by the little bonfire with the other farmer’s son and talked (wish I had pictures!) while Mr. Fix-It and I sorted, weighed, and loaded sheep. {Ok, I watched and mentally calculated weights and prices while the guys sorted, weighed, and loaded.}

Oh, and if it seems like they're always wearing the same clothes in farm pictures...they probably are.
They slept the whole way home and when we got home they were tired and grumpy (and it was late!). I was worried if I had to go through the fuss of getting everyone in pjs that they would end up wide awake again with a second wind. (We go through this every time we have Bible Club/Prayer Meeting late on Wednesdays. It takes 30 minutes to do jammies and get in bed after we get home.)
So I told them they could sleep in their clothes if they wanted. It was just exciting enough that they all went to bed without a peep.

We try to keep one set of "farm clothes" in the laundry room to use for choretime for about a week at a time. (Unless something bad happens to them.) Those Carhartt bibs are practically indestructible!
At first I felt like a terrible momma. But then I thought, hey, they’re in bed, asleep, and I made sure they took their sweaty socks off, so what’s the problem?
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
You’re good. My girls sleep in their clothes about four times a year. I figure, they aren’t moving much, and if they are comfortable it’s all good 🙂
Have missed you – hoping to connect once your busyness slows down!!
Totally acceptable! I have learned never to wake a sleeping child (unless there is an emergency of course)! Let the m get their zzzz’s.
Hi I you left such a lovely comment, I just had to come and visit. I have to tell you I just loved your post too. It cracked me up because you know sometimes you just have to let them sleep in their clothes.
You know, I thought about my Dad all day, and I did wish I could call and listen to him laugh. It is funny the things you forget and then remember and it come flooding in.
I am glad you understood.
It is very nice meeting you today, I will be coming back.
