Chores in Skirts…and Other Daily Adventures
Around here, we don’t let little things like being a girl, or wearing a skirt, slow us down!
Believe me, I don’t think life is ever going to move too fast for this lady!
The Ladybug has to wear skirts every day for school, and it has yet to stop her from doing her chores every morning and every evening. No matter what those chores may include.
Sometimes I stop and think about how shockingly competent our kiddos are compared to myself at that age. I don’t know that I’d even laid hands on a chicken before when I was 9 years old.
They feed.
They water.
They herd.
They tackle.
They construct pens and deconstruct fences and mow grass and even drive cars!
Around here we’ll be replacing gate latches (which in some cases is just a double knotted rope) and shifting hoses and picking out a new fencer to make that chicken netting fence HOT. We’re tired of all this trouble keeping the chickens in and everything else out–and Mr. Fix-It has a plan to mount it on the chicken house so it’s still a mobile unit.
Anyone have recommendations?
I would love to have my house clean before I have the whole day off on Monday so that maybe I could just spend some time reading, but I’ve pretty much given up on the idea of ever getting ahead of the laundry situation in our household and our living room blinds are an embarrassing shade of not-white these days.
We’ve also got to get back to the painting around here. We still have to do the playroom and the kitchen (and the Ladybug is waiting not-so-patiently for her turn!) and I have to tackle that thing we call “the office” upstairs. The TO-DO list is never-ending, isn’t it?
But first up…FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT! {smile} We’ll be having our favorite tacos and watching Heidi this evening. We got the movie to go along with the Classic Starts book for the Ladybug’s birthday this past summer. (We have the unabridged version from Sterling Classics too, but we love the Classic Starts for independent reading since, as I’ve mentioned before, our Ladybug is a bit of a reluctant reader.)
{Did know you can get Heidi for FREE on Kindle? You can download the FREE Kindle reading app to your smart phone, tablet, computer, or other device to read it for FREE, right now!}
Do you have any big (or not-so-big!) project on your list?
See where I’m linking up this week…
And be sure to take a look at the cookbooks, meal planners, magazines, and other resources in the Harvest Your Health eBook Bundle…just a few more days to get the package at 97% off!
Fun!! We had movie night last night with hot dogs 🙂 It’s such a great way to regroup as a family. I have an endless list of projects that I need to work on – topping the list is getting our indoor art space ready since the cold has forced us off the porch 🙂
