Wet Grass, Wet Dogs…the Daily Farm Adventures {92}
There is just no way to express how WET the grass is at our place in the morning. The dew is so heavy it drips off our metal outbuildings. If you don’t wear muck boots you’re wet to the knees just going out to the chicken house and back. Dark trails run through the grass where you walk and sometimes when the dogs really take off running, water sprays up to either side as they race through.
Since Coal is a lot shorter, he gets a lot wetter. {smile} Penny gets wet on her legs, and up to her belly. But Coal gets wet from nose to tail and top to bottom. It doesn’t help that he gets tumbled off his feet wrestling with Penny.
Or that he loves to bury his nose in the grass and race through tunneling up water and flinging it over his head.
Or that he likes to snatch old bones and hid out in grass taller than he is, trying to get in a few chomps before I take it away.
Don’t be fooled, though! Penny’s no angel either. She’ll be almost completely dry–and then go roll in the grass just because.
And sometimes I’m lucky enough that they come up dripping in water and spider webs from all the morning ground spiders! Fun! I particularly love when they come and leeeeean their wet self all up against me and my pants are suddenly stuck to my leg just above the knee where my boots end and their backs reach.
Such adventures just from walking the dogs every morning! {smile}
They both enjoy being dried off though. They’ll stand there very patiently and behave the whole time.
Unless the rubbing stops.
Then they take matters into their own hands…er…paws.
Life is a funny thing out here…the things we love always seems to come with strings attached–and those strings lead to laundry and sweeping and mopping and…more work! {smile} You just have to be ok with it. Or be miserable. I’ve tried out both and I find being ok is much nicer than being miserable. Everyone else in the family prefers it too. {smile}
Life is a glorious thing if you just give yourself room to appreciate it.
How are things in your neck of the woods? Have you hopped over to the Simple Sunday link up this week? There’s already nearly 75 posts over there and going strong! I saw a lot of back-to-school tips and some no-bake dessert recipes that I’ve already Pinned. Be sure to check it out and add anything you’d love to share!
See where I’m sharing…
