Wednesday Windings 12/15/2010…Christmas Surprises

I can not believe we got more snow!

Or that it’s been cold enough for it to stick around all week so far.

Are you seeing this? This was Monday!

Mr. Fix-It and I have been hard at work trying to pull together our Christmas surprises.  The Ladybug’s doll bed is just about finished, and I’ve been humming along on the bedding.  I’ve got the mattress covered, the pillow made…I’m even working on a fitted and flat sheet thanks to this helpful tutorial.

I never would have picked those colors! I went with what she's mentioned from catalogues and stores lately.

Can I just say that Bessie and I are loving our new found friendship?  Loving it!

We're taking on big things!

I’ve gotten quite brave and started seeing possibilities everywhere.  Yesterday we had to take goodies to the Ladies Holiday Fellowship at Church.  I mentioned this Candy Land themed party a few times before.  Well, I was helping with the Grandma Nutt table. (Which is without a doubt the toughest character to translate in that game!)  so we had to make “nutty” treats for the table.

Gingerbread man? Sure, Bessie and I've got ya covered!

I also made a gingerbread man outfit for my Ladybug! I made it out of brown fleece (that was on awesome winter sale at the fabric store!) and the plan was to remove the fancy, big buttons after the party and voilà! New jammies.  But she loves the buttons best, so they’re staying. $12 bucks later she’s adorable and snuggle-warm for the evening in her new gingerbread jammies.

The pattern didn't really account for a Children's size Twiggy.

(P.S. No one makes brown sweats for kids anymore. Oh, believe me, I looked! Brown is apparently as passè for kids clothes as cowboys are for birthday cakes.)

And you might not have noticed the Ladybug’s poor face!

Oh my poor, poor Bug!

Apparently she took a spill on the ice yesterday at school.  They said she was very brave about it so they didn’t call me.  (And thankfully she’s already missing those teeth, so she didn’t knock any out!) Poor thing! She’s klutzy like her mama. Forehead, nose, mouth, chin, and knees, all in one accident!

And since school ends for the holidays on Friday, we’re also madly concocting teacher treats/gifts.  I’ll keep you posted if they turn out worth showing!
