When I first started linking up with Thankful on a Thursday, it was organized by Gini over at the McGlothin Family Nest and Alysha over at The Tarr Pit. Gini hasn’t been blogging lately and (in case you hadn’t heard !) Alysha just brought baby Emerson into the world and is quite busy mothering 2 bright-eyed boys under 2 years old at the moment.
So I’m going to take over hosting the Thankful on a Thursday {LINK UP} until Alysha gets a bigger saucer for her overflowing cup of blessings and feels ready to take it back. This week I’m thankful for all these little lambs being healthy, happy, and a little bit crazy out there every afternoon…it helps me remember there’s more to life than anything that happened at the office. Farming has brought to life so many of the Lord’s parables right before our eyes and reminded me over and over that the Bible is never out of date and God’s illustrations to us are always so perfectly accurate. I’m thankful for the Word and that “God says what He means and means what He says.” (Thanks Pastor Gray!)
“But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger they will not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of a stranger.” (John 10:2-4)
“I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.” (John 10:14-15)
“And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.” (John 10:16)
And I’m thankful for these little lambs, my little lambs, that bring joy to my heart and laughter from my mouth. They are a calling to be better, to be kinder, to be more forgiving…to be the blessing you want to receive. And a reminder of undeserved grace. I am thankful for still more of God’s Word brought to life right before my eyes.
“And Jesus called a little child unto him and set him in the midst of them. And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:2-3)
“Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.” (Matthew 18:4-5)
“But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” (Matthew 18:6)
“Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 18:10)
