The Lamb Nanny…the Daily Farm Adventures {43}
We have a couple of smaller lambs that love to slip out through the gates and graze in the backyard. Pretty much every. single. day. I’ve started calling them “the gang of 5.” {smile}

They wouldn’t indulge me by gathering together for a picture of all five at once.
It’s not too big a deal since we still haven’t started our spring garden yet. (Hey, don’t judge! {smile}) They’re keeping the beds weeded and ready for us! And they aren’t old enough to wander very far from their Mommas–they always go back the way they came out, eventually, to nurse and nap.
And Penny’s always on duty to make sure nothing bad happens! {smile}
She’s just as good of a lamb nanny as a babysitter for the crew! She just hangs out and naps in the sunny yard all afternoon while they wander around, nibbling the new grass.

See, they’re keeping our raised beds clean as a whistle!
There’s actually a farm technique called “creep feeding” where you give young animals access to high protein food that the adults can’t get to, to help them grow faster. They make special feeders that only the young animals can fit through… (Like below, photo credit, Sydell)
We don’t necessarily use this technique because the lambs get plenty of nutrition from fresh grass, but this year the grass is late and they’ve taken matters into their own hands…er…hooves.
{Just a note…we love working with Sydell. Our chute system and scale are from them and they have great folks that can help any time we call. They also email their schedules for traveling to all the local sheep and wool festivals if we need to meet in-person for help or avoid shipping on anything. They’re helping us with a scale issue right now…but I digress…}

Um…this is a little BOY. {smile}
Oh yeah, and one of our lambs is going to be performing in the Easter Cantata at a local church this weekend! She had practice last night and seemed to know all her lines. {smile} I think she’s going to be the star of the show! She has two performances, one Saturday and one Sunday–you can message us on Facebook if you’re local and would like to catch one of her shows!!
You might recognize her–we posted her birth story a few weeks ago in our Lambing Help Series. She was the second twin–the one with big spot over her tail!
Do you have big weekend plans? We’ve got soccer, football, the pine car derby, and dinner with friends planned–along with Spot’s Easter performances. {smile} And we have to finish up an Egg Drop project. Life just keeps on rolling, huh?
Don’t forget…time is running out to grab the All Organized eBook Bundle with 23 books for $20, only available through April 7th! All the free printables alone are with the purchase price!
If you’re anything like me, you’ll definitely want to check out the Easy Peasy Chore Chart, Meal Planning Made Simple, and Clean Enough–these are core helpers for a busy momma! (Believe me, I live by the concept of “clean enough!”)
And if you’re less like me {smile} you’ll get quite the bang for your buck out of the 6 book Scheduling mini bundle (Bundle 3 of 5)–and the rest will just be an added bonus! I can’t completely wrap my mind around the idea of Project Organize Your Entire Life–but it includes a complete printable planner!
Have a great weekend!
