It’s been a long first week of school so far.
But so far we’re surviving it all pretty well.
The first day was a little tough. Speedracer’s had to implement some coping strategies.
We’re all just a little (ok, a lot) tired and worn out at the end of the day. We do our chores, unpack our backpacks and lunchboxes, and veg out for a while. Except for the Cowboy who immediately runs upstairs to play with his toys. Well, and except for me because I have to cook dinner, do the dishes, start the laundry and check to make sure everyone did their chores. And except for Mr. Fix-It, who doesn’t even get home for another hour.
My little guy is just tired. He just sits on the couch to watch his “Optimus Prime movie” and pretty much doesn’t move until dinner is ready. And if you sit down beside him, he sort of falls over and doesn’t have the energy to get back up.
We’re thankful that the start of school has been pretty uneventful and smooth. (Especially considering the Cowboy’s penchant for causing chaos at school last year.) And we’re thankful that we survived an earthquake, our first real earthquake, without any damage or injuries or anything. (And we’ll be super thankful if that ends up being our first and last earthquake too!)
And we’re thankful that we’re able to follow the news regularly to keep track of this Hurricane barreling down on us. While we can’t avoid any damage it’s going to do, at least we’re well informed beforehand. Recent tornado events across the country (including around here) have shown us what a blessing it is to be warned! We’re changing batteries in our flashlights and filling water buckets and gathering everything under shelter the best we can.
Your prayers are appreciated (we’re praying for those already hit and those who are about to be too!).
